2026 Coaches
Coach Dawn got her start teaching swim and coaching teams in the early 1990s and is celebrating her 20th summer at Brook Highland in 2026. She loves teaching and working with young people and especially enjoys the developmental aspects of swim. Coach Dawn has been married to David for 29 years and together they have 4 children: Brennan(28), Rilyn(24), Anya(18) and Ronan(15). When Coach Dawn isn't coaching or teaching lessons she enjoys volunteering with the Oak Mountain Band, attending live music and artistic performances, traveling, hiking, reading and playing with her dog Nilla and cats Whimsy and Xerox.
Lila Walker-Callandar
Coach Llia has been coaching alongside Coach Dawn since 2018 both at BHRC and year-round with their USA Swimming program, MCAL. Llia and Scott Callandar were married in October 2025 and are enjoying life as newlyweds with their dog, Daisy and cat, Cheese. Llia enjoys working with swimmers of all levels and can't wait for another season at BHRC!
Elly Mulder
Coach Elly will be spending her third summer as an assistant coach at BHRC this year and was a "teen helper" when she swam at BHRC. Elly is a rising senior at Auburn University where she is studying wildlife ecology and management and marches with the AU Band. Her experience leading musicians both in high school (drum major at OMHS) and at Auburn as a section leader with the AUMB and her service as a student ambassador at AU all serve her well when working with young swimmers at BHRC.
BHRC is blessed to have such a wonderful and experienced coaching staff returning for 2026!
